Homemade Bath Salts

Bath Salts are an easy and fun homemade do it yourself birthday party craft, activity and party favor all in one!  Set up the ingredients and let the party guests combine their own scents and color combinations using these 3 simple homemade recipes.  Let the guests mix up their favorites and place in a pretty jar that they can decorate and take home with them to enjoy and use after the party.

There are several combinations to choose from below.  Try and mix all the recipes (in smaller batches) before the party and test them to see which recipe you think everyone would prefer.  You'll also need some large bowls that the party goers can mix their bath salts in to get them just right before they are placed in a mason or other jar.  Make sure to provide labels or tags that the girls can write down their names and label their bath salt recipes before they leave the party.

1/2 Cup Baking Soda
5 - 10 drops of Essential Oils

Homemade Bath Salt Tips

Mix different colors in seperate containers using a few drops of food color at a time.  Mix throughly after each time of adding a few drops of food color to the mix to make the perfect color.

Fill jars with the bath salts and decorate with a pretty ribbon.

If you are making different colors layer the bath salts (like you would sand art) in the jar or mix for a colorful rainbow effect.

Be sure to label everyones jar so that they don't get mixed up after the party or sleepover.

Here are some fun Essential Oil combinations:

5 drops of Lavender and 5 drops of bergamot is great for relaxation

5 drops of eucalyptus and 5 drops of peppermint will clear your sinuses

5 drops of lemon and 5 drops of rosemary will clear your mind and give you sweet dreams.

5 drops of peppermint and 5 drops of orange make a wonderful citrusy combination.

Set up a poster that everyone can see or give each guest their own card with fun combinations of essential oils to give them ideas on what combinations they can make and what benefits they have.

Some guests might want to skip the Essential Oils and just color their bath salts with different colors.  Adding perfume is also a fun option that give girls more choices.

Have the guests name their fun combinations and share with the other guests.

Homemade bath salts are a fun way to have everyone at the party get involved, be creative and have fun!  Guests will appreciate the wonderful party favor that they are able to take home and enjoy long after the party has ended.
